Before someone comes to their first workshop, they usually ask me the same few questions. Do I need to know anything about Feng Shui? Will I have to speak in front of everyone? What do I bring?
The short answers are no, only if you want to, and not much. Here is the longer version.
The themes we explore
Each workshop focuses on one theme, so we can go deep enough for it to be useful at home. The ones I return to most often are these.
The Five Elements
Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water are the foundation of both Feng Shui and BaZi. We look at how the elements support and challenge each other, how they show up in a home through color, shape and material, and how they appear in your own birth chart. Many people discover, often with a laugh of recognition, which element is strong in their chart and which one is quiet. I wrote about that second case in When an Element Is Missing From Your BaZi Chart.
Kua numbers and directions
Your Kua number comes from your birth year and points to the directions that tend to suit you best for sleeping, working and sitting. We calculate everyone's Kua together and then look at real floor plans. If you want a head start, read my Kua number guide.
Clearing your home's energy
This workshop is about the practical side: how to notice where a home feels stuck, how to clear it with simple tools like light, sound, salt and order, and how to keep it feeling fresh through the year.
The rhythm of an evening
Most workshops follow the same three movements.
Learn. I start with the ideas: where they come from, how they work, and a few examples from homes and charts I have seen. I keep it clear and grounded, with no jargon left unexplained.
Practice. Then we put it to work. You might sketch your bedroom and find your best direction, read the elements in your own chart, or plan a clearing for one room. I walk around the room and help each person with their own example.
Share. We finish in a circle. Anyone who wants to can share what they found. Nobody has to. Some of the best moments of the evening come from hearing how someone else's home or chart echoes your own.
What to bring
- Your free map, ready in advance. If the workshop touches on BaZi or the elements, make your map before you come. It takes a minute on the home page, and it means we can spend the evening reading charts instead of calculating them. You will need your date of birth, and your time of birth if you know it.
- A rough floor plan of your home. Nothing fancy. A hand drawing on a sheet of paper is perfect. Mark the front door and which way is north if you can.
- A notebook and a pen. People always write more than they expect to.
- An open mind. These are traditions, not tests. Curiosity is the only requirement.
Group size and atmosphere
I keep groups small, so everyone gets personal attention and nobody gets lost at the back of the room. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, closer to a gathering of friends around a table than a lecture. There is usually tea, and there is always time for questions.
I run workshops in English and in Hebrew, and each group is held in one language so that the conversation can flow naturally. If you are bilingual, choose whichever feels more like home.
Some people prefer to learn with their own circle, friends, family or colleagues. I also hold private workshops for groups. I explain how that works in Hosting a Private Workshop.
What people take home
At the end of an evening, people usually leave with:
- One concrete change for their home, often something they can do that same night.
- A clearer picture of their own chart, or at least of the element at its center.
- A new way of looking at space. Many people tell me they never walk into their living room the same way again.
- Connections. Workshops bring together people who are curious about the same things, and some of them stay in touch long after.
I do not promise that a workshop will change your life. What I can promise is a good evening, real tools you can use, and a room full of people who are glad you came.
How to see upcoming dates
Workshop dates, themes and languages are listed on the events page, and new dates are added through the year. Before you come, make your free map so it is ready on the night. I would love to see you there.
